For many years, Del has had a strong passion for the ocean. He is continually drawn by its power, beauty and peacefulness. Del began painting the sea years ago and says it is an ongoing learning process to really understand the sea and its continually changing moods.
Del gives credit for his talent and creativity to God, the creator of what he paints. He desires not only to represent nature, but also to capture its emotion. He believes the illumination of light in the painting is just as important as the composition itself. Del is self-taught but is inspired by the old masters: Thomas Moran, Frederic E. Church, Albert Bierstadt and others.
Del’s paintings have been represented in three prominent art galleries in Carmel-By-The-Sea, CA. He has owned and operated his own art galleries in Carmel-By-The-Sea and on Cannery Row in Monterey, CA. Del also considers it an honor to have the famous actor Robert Wagner as a private owner of his work.
After much time and study, he currently features majestic clipper ships, graceful yachts and unique lighthouses in his paintings. Many of Del’s paintings feature beautiful scenes of the Monterey Peninsula, which is where Del and his family reside. Having lived in Incline Village at Lake Tahoe, he has also directed the same intense study to the beautiful and romantic Lake Tahoe. He is now expanding his painting subject to include breathtaking waterfalls across America.
